Accident Hospitalizes 1, LIVINGSTON, March 6, 2016 - At approximately 10 am on March 6, 2016, a black 2011 Hyundai Elantra driven by Stephanie Rhodes, 50, of Fresno, was south-bound on US-59 (a short distance north of the radio station). Rhodes was in the right lane and was suddenly slammed from behind by a tan Chevy Suburban driven by Latrena West, 40, of Livingston. West was in the left lane behind Rhodes and drifted right into Rhodes' lane impacting her vehicle. The collision caused Rhodes' vehicle to leave the pavement to the right as her vehicle came to rest at the edge of the tree line. West's vehicle pulled to the right shoulder. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Jacob Chapman with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Kevin Burman and Ashlee McBride with the Texas Highway Patrol. Rhodes sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with a broken leg and other possible injuries. Traffic on 59 was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Latrena West was cited for failure to maintain a single lane of traffic. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Rhodes' vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. West's vehicle was towed by a friend.
Rhodes sustained a broken leg and other possible injuries.
