Driver of Car is Flown Out After Slamming Into 18 Wheeler, CORRIGAN, March 5, 2019 - At approximately 1:40 pm on March 5, 2019, a silver 2005 Nissan Sentra, driven by Cesar A. Galvan, 22, of Jasper, was east-bound on FM-287 East (about 2 miles out of the Corrigan City Limits). As Galvan came over the top of a hill, he suddenly slammed on his brakes and swerved right to avoid an 18 wheeler, driven by Kenneth Leon Blue, 56, of Kingsland, Georgia. The impact crushed the front of Galvan's car and tore off part of Blue's trailer rear end. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Colton McQuilkin and John Allen with the Texas Highway Patrol. Additionally, representatives from TXDOT were dispatched to assist. Galvan sustained a major head injury and was transported by ambulance to a landing zone where a medical helicopter landed and flew him to Conroe Regional Hospital. Blue was physically okay. According to Blue, he was only slowing down to look for a place to turn around, however, evidence at the scene suggests that Blue may have already began to initiate a turn around and was spanned across the road when he was impacted by Galvan. The accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol. Galvan's vehicle and Blue's Trailer were recovered by Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan.
