Major accident a few miles west of the Reservation Entrance on 190 East
Fatal Accident in East Polk County, ALABAMA COUSHATTA RESERVATION, February 25, 2013 - At approximately 10:15 am on February 25, 2013 a black 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 pulling a trailer and being driven by Ronnie Reynolds, 42, of Livingston, was west-bound on US-190 East. Reynolds took evasive action when a black 2006 Hyundai Sonata driven by Cecil Alec, 68, of Livingston pulled in front of Reynolds from a driveway. Reynolds swerved left but the collision was unavoidable as his truck slammed into the driver's side of Alec's car. Both vehicles came to rest on the south side of 190 in the grass. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Alabama Coushatta Volunteer Fire Department, Tribal Security, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Ramey Bass, Alan Stanton, Kevin Burman and Sergeant Nita Bowen (all with the Texas Highway Patrol). Alec was pulled from his vehicle and rushed to Livingston Memorial Hospital. Sadly, Cecil Alec was pronounced dead a 11:02 am. Justice of the Peace Stephen McEntyre performed an inquest. Ronnie Reynolds was physically okay. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. A rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service recovered Alec's vehicle and it will be stored at 101 Harwood Drive in Livingston. Reynolds' truck and trailer were recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Pollock's Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 12 noon.
Ronnie Reynolds' 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 was west-bound on US-190 East.
This 2006 Hyundai Sonata was driven by Cecil Alec of Livingston. Alec pulled out of a driveway directly in front of the truck and was broadsided.
Trooper Ramey Bass is the primary investigator.
Trooper Alan Stanton assisted in investigating the accident.
Both vehicles came to rest in the grass on the south-side of 190.
