Bizarre Car Fire on FM-2665, GOODRICH, February 24, 2010 - At approximately 12:35 am on February 24, 2010 a car fire was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office from passers by who came upon a burning 1997 Ford Crown Victoria on FM-2665. Goodrich Fire Chief Ken Hambrick was the first emergency Personnel on the scene and was followed shortly by firemen from the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department, and then Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Americare Ambulance Service, and DPS Trooper Chris Stanbery. The car was allegedly registered to James Smith of Ace and according to witnesses, was driven by Woodrow Behr of ACE. Firemen put the fire out and all that remained was the burned out body and frame. A rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service recovered the abandoned car. At time of press, it is not confirmed who was driving the car, but the incident is under investigation with the Texas Department of Public Safety. The scene was cleared by 2:15 am.
