Car Slams Into Back of Horse Convoy, NEW WILLARD, February 19, 2013 - Shortly before 4 pm on February 13, 2013 a white 2010 Ford Escort driven by Leonard Ray Davis, 72, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-59. Davis slammed into the back of a trail ride convoy trailer near Loop 116. The collision totaled Davis' vehicle. The trailer that he slammed into received moderate damage. Davis' vehicle came to rest in the right lane. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Terry Valka, Seargant Rob Thomas (both with the Polk County Sheriff's Office) and Trooper Chad Seamans with the Texas Highway Patrol. Davis was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Livngston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Trooper Seamans, Leonard Davis will be cited for failure to control speed. A rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service recovered Davis' vehicle and it will be stored at 101 Harwood Drive in Livingston.

The Daschund in this picture was in the car but fortunately escaped injury. A good samaritin (lady holding dog) volunteered to look after the dog until Davis is able to take her back.
