Another Bizzaro Wreck, GOODRICH, February 18, 2021 - At approximately 10 am on February 18, 2021, the driver of a maroon Dodge full size pickup was north-bound on US 59 when the driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel. His vehicle left the pavement to the left, struck a guardrail head on, then swerved back onto the pavement. The guardrail (that is designed to fly apart and go into the grass) somehow affixed itself onto the front end of the pickup as the driver pulled to the right shoulder where he came to a stop. Troopers Kevin Burman and Nick Hatton were dispatched to the scene to investigate. Fortunately, there were no injuries. LakeView Wrecker was summoned to clean up the mess.
The guardrail is designed to fly apart and go into the grass, but this one somehow became affixed to the vehicle, as it was dragged across US-59 in the vicinity of Goodrich.
