Driver Passes Away from Injuries, LIVINGSTON, February 22, 2020 - The driver that slammed into the bridge abutment of Choates Creek Bridge on South Houston (146) has passed away from injuries sustained in the accident. Debra Ann Mitchell, 60, of Spring Creek, passed away 2 days after her accident. On the evening of February 18, Mitchell was north-bound on South Houston when her vehicle drifted across the south-bound lanes, left the pavement and slammed into the bridge abutment on the south-bound side.

Pickup Slams Into Choates Creek Bridge Guard Rail, LIVINGSTON, February 18, 2020 - At approximately 5:55 pm on February 18, 2020, a red 2010 GMC Canyon pickup, driven by Debra Ann Mitchell, 60, of Spring Creek, was north Bound on South Houston (US-146). According to witnesses, as Mitchell was approaching the Choates Creek Bridge, her vehicle drifted from the north-bound lanes of traffic, across the south-bound lanes, left the pavement and slammed into the end of the guard rail on the south-bound side. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Sergeant Chad Ward and Officer Donald Dyson with Livingston Police Department. Mitchell was pinned in her vehicle. Responders were able to eventually free her from her vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on South Houston was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Mitchell's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by Livingston Police Department.
