Kirkland was waiting to make a left turn into the Corner Shell Station when he was struck from behind by a red 2005 Chevy Silverado, driven by Bryce Wesley Bowers, 20, of Livingston. The impact pushed Kirkland's vehicle into the oncoming lane of 2457 where he was slammed by a south-bound white 2003 Toyota 4 Runner, driven by Raymond Lester Adams, 71, of Frisco. Kirkland's vehicle continued into the parking lot of the Corner Shell. Adams' vehicle stopped in the south-bound lane, Bowers pulled to the shoulder of the north-bound lane. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Mark Dubose with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Darwon Evans and Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Adams was carefully removed from his vehicle and transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on 2457 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Bowers was cited for failure to control speed. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Kirkland's and Adams' vehicle and they'll be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
