Fatal Accident on Walding Road, Livingston, February 16, 2012 - At approximately 3:10 pm on February 16, 2012, sixty seven year old Johnny Meyers of Livingston left his driveway in his white 2007 Chevy Silverado and proceeded south-bound on Walding Road. Meyers didn't make it very far from his driveway and his truck left the road to the left and slammed head-on into a tree. A neighbor witnessed the horrible event and called 911. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Sergeant Jason Paske with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Deputy Craig Taylor and Troopers David Flowers and Sergeant Nita Bowen (both with the Texas Highway Patrol). Meyers' was rushed to Livingston Memorial Hospital by ambulance and was pronounced dead shortly after 4 pm. It is believed that Meyers actually had a heart attack which caused the accident, that killed him. According to doctors, Meyers hit the steering wheel and collapsed both lungs and suffered massive internal bleeding. According to DPS, Meyers had no history of heart problems and this was sudden and unexpected. Meyers' vehicle was recovered by friends who returned his truck to his house which was a short distance from the where the crash occurred.
