Trooper David Flowers with the Texas Highway Patrol is the investigating Officer.
Another Fatal Accident, 22 Year Old Conroe Man Killed, Alcohol Suspected, GOODRICH, February 13, 2011 - At approximately 5:00 am on February 13, 2011, a white 2001 Dodge truck driven by Jody Lynn Bell, 22, of Conroe, was south-bound on US-59 in Goodrich when his truck left the road to the right, took out a section of guard rail, plowed through the grass, took out a state sign, continued down an embankment and slammed into a large steel pole that supported a billboard.  Bell was killed on impact.  The Livingston Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Billy Duke, and DPS Troopers David Flowers and Sergeant Nita Bowen.  Bell vehicle was traveling at 120 mph at the time that his truck impacted the pole.  The collision was so hard that the truck's frame was bent at 90 degree angles in two places and the massive pole that supports the billboard nearly halfway flattened on one side.  According to DPS, alcohol was found in and around the truck and is suspected to be a factor in this crash.  Justice of the Peace David Johnson performed an inquest at the scene.  Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup.  A first call car from Cochran Funeral Home recovered Jody Bell.  Bell did have insurance.  A rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service recovered Bell's vehicle and it will be stored in Livingston.  The scene was cleared by 7:30 am.
