3 Hospitalized (1 by Life Flight) in ATV/Car Accident, LIVINGSTON, February 8, 2009 - Shortly before 2 pm on February 8, 2009, a Red 2000 Honda Recon ATV driven by Annie Thoff, 20, of Livingston was west-bound Yarborough's Loop and failed to yield right-of-way to a white 1993 Saturn SC Coupe that was south-bound of FM-3126 and driven by Geoffry Cook, 51, of Livingston. The ATV struck the car. Both Thoff and her passenger Robie Bushart, also 20 and of Livingston were injured in the collision. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene of the accident as well as the Scenic Loop Fire Department and DPS Troopers Sam Lattner and Kevin Burman and Sergeant Perry Alexander and Deputy Glen Edwards both of the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Thoff sustained major head injuries and had to be transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston by life flight helicopter while Bushart was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital by Americare. Geoffry Cook appeared to by physically okay but was still checked out by EMS personnel. One lane of traffic was blocked on 3126 as the accident was being investigated and cleared. Thoff was transported by Americare to FM-2457 where a life flight helicopter landed and flew her to Houston. Thoff's ATV was recovered by a friend while Cook's vehicle was towed by a wrecker from Polock's Wrecker Service. According to Trooper Lattner, Thoff will be issued a citation for driving an ATV on a road, and a citation for failure to yield right-of-way at a stop sign. The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing before 4 pm.
