Name Released of Man Struck by Car on 59, NEW WILLARD, February 3, 2017 - The man who was struck by a car on US-59 near the south end of Loop 116 has been released. William Earl Vogel, 51, of Corrigan, remains in Houston in critical condition. Vogel was struck by a car as he was crossing the highway at approximately 10 am on February 3, 2017.

Pedestrian Struck, In Critical Condition, NEW WILLARD, February 3, 2017 - At approximately 10 am on February 3, 2017 a pedestrian was struck by a car on the north-bound side of 59. A blue 2009 Chevy Aveo, driven by Charlie Price, Jr., 66, of Many, Louisiana was north-bound when the collision occurred. Troopers Nick Hatton, Allen Stanton, Kevin Burman, Darwon Evans, and Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene. Allegiance Ambulance Service rushed the pedestrian to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital where a medical helicopter transported him to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Price was physically okay. All traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was blocked for about 40 minutes before one lane was opened up. The pedestrian has not yet been identified. Price's car was driven from the scene. 66 year old Charlie Price, Jr., of Many, Louisiana was driving this 2009 Chevy Aveo. The car shows damage where the pedwestrian was struck.
The accident occurred just south of Leggett.
