Felony DWI: Intoxicated Driver Causes 18 Wheeler to Wipe Out, LIVINGSTON, January 30, 2012 - Shortly before 3pm on January 30, 2012, a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Armando R. Torres, 33, of Livingston, was east-bound on US-190 East near Hornet Nest Road. Torres swerved over the center line into the lanes of oncoming west-bound traffic. Torres was grazed by an oncoming 18 wheeler who swerved to avoid Torres. Both the 18 wheeler and Torres left the pavement on the west-bound side and into the grass. Troopers Chris Stanbery and Sergeant Nita Bowen (both with the Texas Highway Patrol) were dispatched to the scene along with Sergeant Rob Thomas of the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Fortunately, nobody was injured. Trooper Stanbery administered a field sobriety test on Torres and placed him under arrest for driving while intoxicated. If convicted, this will be Torres' third DWI which is a felony. Torres driven to Polk County Jail and booked in. Torres' vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing and will be stored at Pollock's Body Shop in Livingston. The 18 wheeler was recovered by a heavy duty wrecker out of Huntsville.
This 18 wheeler swerved to avoid the PT Cruiser and wiped out in the grass.

Torres' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing.
