A traffic light controller on the south-bound side of Business 59 at Abby was taken out when 2 vehicles collided on Wednesday afternoon.
Accident Takes Out Traffic Light Controller, LIVINGSTON, January 24, 2018 - At approximately 2:20 pm on January 24, 2018, a white 2015 Kia Forte', driven by Christina Lee-Ann Ritter, 22, of Livingston, was south-bound on Business 59. As Ritter proceeded through the intersection at 59 and Abby, a silver 2011 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, driven by Sue Barnett, 78, of Livingston attempted a left turn. Barnett was north-bound on Business 59 and attempted the left turn onto Abby but failed to yield to Ritter. Ritter's vehicle collided with Barnett's. The impact caused Barnett's vehicle to spin around and come to rest at the corner of an adjacent business. Ritter's vehicle slid left and slammed into and took out a traffic light controller. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, and Officers Scott Paske, Adam Williford, Kaleb Barker, and Sergeant Ronny Bogany with the Livingston Police Department. Ritter, Barnett, and all vehicle occupants were checked by EMS personnel. Though bumped and bruised, all the vehicle occupants refused to be transported. Traffic on the south-bound side of Business 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Barnett was cited for failure to yield at a left turn. Barnett did have a green light (but not a green arrow). A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Ritter's vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Barnett's vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service and will be stored in Goodrich.
