Driver Attempts Unsafe U-Turn, Gets Broadsided and Turned Over, SPRING CREEK, January 17, 2019 - At approximately 10:25 am on January 17, 2019, the driver of a black, late model Ford Edge was west-bound on US-190 West (on the right shoulder, across the street from 4 Corners Subdivison). The driver, Richard Baker, 79, of Livingston, attempted a U-Turn in front of a west-bound 2016 Kia Soul, driven by McKenzie Hensley, 19, of Onalaska. Hensley's vehicle broadsided Baker's vehicle. The impact turned Baker's vehicle over causing him to be entrapped. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Troopers Ashlee White, Colton McQuilkin, Alan Stanton, and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Firemen were able to help get Baker from his vehicle. Baker was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Hensley was checked by EMS personnel and was physically okay. Traffic on both sides of 190 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Baker was cited for failure to yield right-of-way. Both vehicles were recovered by George White & Sons Wrecker Service out of Onalaska and was assisted by Ken's Towing.
