Multi Vehicle Pile Up on Trinity River Bridge Leaves Jasper Woman Deceased, SAN JACINTO COUNTY, January 15, 2024 - At approximately 8:30 am on January 15, 2024, a multi-vehicle pile up on the Trinity River Bridge occurred. According to witnesses, the driver of a Toyota Tacoma slid out of control on the icy bridge. That was the beginning. A multi-vehicle pile up of eight vehicles including 18 wheelers were involved. According to sources, one woman involved in the accident who was driving a silver Ford F-150 pickup, got out of her vehicle to help. She was then struck by another out of control vehicle. She (Salina Gilcrest, of Jasper) was rushed by ambulance CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital where she passed away shortly after arriving. Troopers from Polk and San Jacinto Counties converged on the scene and secured the bridge. South-bound traffic on 59 was backed up far. The south-bound side of the Trinity River Bridge was shut down for hours due to the strewned wreckage, investigation, and cleanup. The south-bound side of the Trinity River Bridge almost looked like a war zone after a multi vehicle pile up due to icy conditions.
According to sources, Salina Gilcrest, of Jasper, was driving this Ford F-150 pickup. According to witnesses, after her collision, Gilcrest exited her vehicle to help anyone that she could and was tragically struck by another out of control vehicle.
