Alcohol Suspected in Major Accident, ONALASKA, January 7, 2009 - At approximately 11:30 pm on January 6, 2009, a red 2004 BMW-BV3 driven by Dawn Renae Lightfoot, 48, of Onalaska was north-bound on FM-356 in Onalaska. Lightfoot allegedly failed to negotiate a turn properly and her vehicle left the road to the right, struck a culvert and went airborne, struck a pole, and rolled several times before coming to rest. Units from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and DPS Trooper Darwon Evans were dispatched to the scene. During the accident, Lightfoot was ejected from her vehicle. Life Flight was summoned and Lightfoot was transported to Houston by helicopter. According to witnesses, Lightfoot was involved in a domestic situation and had been drinking. Lightfoot is suspected of striking another car during her drive time. Lightfoot could be facing DWI charges pending toxicology reports, she could also be charged with hit and run. At time of press, the physical status of Dawn Lightfoot is not known to PolkCountyToday.com. The whole situation is under investigation. Lightfoot did have insurance and her vehicle was towed from the scene by George White & Son's towing.
