47 year old Howard Kennard of Livingston, was slammed from behind on FM-2457 (in front of Blanchard Baptist Church), and flown to Houston with undisclosed injuries (Trooper Kevin Burman pictured at right is the investigating officer).
Major Accident, Driver Flown to Houston, BLANCHARD, January 4, 2013 - Shortly before 2 pm on January 4, 2013, a green 2009 Pontiac G6 driven by Howard Kennard, 47, of Livingston, was south-bound on FM-2457. Kennard slowed down for a vehicle in front of his car. The vehicle in front of Kennard was going to make a right turn, but changed at the last second and kept going. While Kennard was slowed down, he was slammed from behind by a silver 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by Thomas Marshall Couch, 27, of Livingston. The collision (in front of Blanchard Baptist Church) sent Kennard's vehicle into the weeds while Couch's vehicle came to rest at the intersection of FM-2457 and FM-3126. Americare Ambulancd Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department and Troopers Kevin Burman, Darwon Evans, and Donny Akers (all with the Texas Highway Patrol). Howard Kennard was treated at the scene and flown to Houston by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital. Couch was physically okay. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Trooper Burman, Thomas Marshall Couch was cited for driving with a suspended license and no insurance. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Couch's vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston while Kennard's vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service and will be stored at Bounds Autoplex in Livingston. The scene was cleared in about an hour.

Howard Kennard was loaded on a Lift Flight Helicopter and flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Couch's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing (Houdini is pictured. Houdini thinks he's hot stuff with his Harley Davidson Motor Scooter Shirt).
Kennard's vehicle was recovered by Big Jim Harwood.
Mixi & Molly were on the job. Molly (right) was alarmed by the helicopter.
