81 year old Country Legend, Mickey Gilley is checked by emergency personnel after his vehicle rolled multiple times in Corrigan on Wednesday (01/03/18).
Country Legend Wrecks in Corrigan, CORRIGAN, January 4, 2018 - At approximately 11:16 am on January 3, 2018, a 2013 Silver Toyota, driven by Michael Gilley, of Pasadena, was traveling north in the 1900 Block of N. Home St. (US 59), in Corrigan.  Country Artist Mickey Gilley, 81, was a front seat passenger.  A 2016 White Cadillac, driven by Johnny Ellis of Groveton, Texas, was traveling west on FM 1987, failed to yield the right of way to Gilley and proceeded into the intersection, striking Gilley's vehicle on the passenger side.  Gilley's vehicle veered off the road into the median and roll 3-4 times before coming to rest upside down.  An ambulance was dispatched to the scene.  Mickey Gilley refused EMS treatment at the scene.  It was later determined that the country legend had suffered a shoulder and an ankle injury.  His son, Michael, sustained bruises.  Mr. Ellis was not injured.  Gilley’s vehicle was recovered by Clifton’s Wrecker Service out of Corrigan.  Mr. Ellis’ vehicle was removed by Riley’s Wrecker Service (also out of Corrigan).  This accident remains under investigation by the Corrigan Police Department.
