Names Released from New Year's Day Accident, LIVINGSTON, January 2, 2008 - According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the drivers' names involved a deadly new year's day accident on 190 were Russell Crowley, Jr., 18, of Onalaska, and Joseph F. Regmund, 44, of Bryan. Crowley's allegedly fell asleep at the wheel when his red 1990 Chevy truck crossed over into east-bound traffic on 190. Crowley's truck continued all the way over to the shoulder of the east-bound lane. When Crowley attempted to correct, he swerved head-on into Regmund's brown and black 1985 Chevy truck. Regmund was killed and his passenger, Phyllis Jean Owens, was life flighted from the scene with serious injuries. As for Crowley, both him and his younger brother, 16, were transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital by Americare Ambulance Service. Crowley could receive citations pending the outcome of an investigation. See Related Story.
