Well, it's that time of year again. Football. In about another month or so, the temperatures will start to drop outside. The shadows will grow long, the leaves will turn brown (the ones that survive the drought anyway), and that beautiful fall weather will fill the East Texas atmosphere. Stadium lights will light up fields all across Texas and we'll once again immerse ourselves in high school football (at least those of us who appreciate the beautiful sport will). Saturday was media day as Head Coach Randy Rowe and his staff unveiled the 2013 Livingston Lions varsity football team for cameras. Perhaps it was a good omen for the Lions' season?, but the temperatures outside were cool and it was a pleasant occasion. Usually it's brutal heat by 9 am, but on this morning it was surprisingly nice. The young players were most cooperative and coach Rowe and his staff did an exceptional job of coordinating their players for the photo session. The Lions' first game of the year is about 2 weeks away (August 30 at 7:30 pm in the Lion's Den). It's a home game against College Park. So come on out and support the Lions. It's cheap, it's fun, and its family friendly.
