Polk County Has Confirmed Its First Case of H1N1 (Swine) Flu., LIVINGSTON, June 13, 2009 -  The seven year old male was diagnosed at Livingston Memorial Hospital Emergency Room and the diagnosis has been confirmed by Angelina Health District.

The Angelina Health District in cooperation with Polk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Shine are gathering information from the child’s family and keeping in close contact to insure the child is receiving proper care and that other family members are not experiencing symptoms. The child is being treated at home where he will remain for the next seven days.

Of the 25 suspected cases in Polk County, this is the first confirmed case. Polk County’s Medical Sub-Committee in conjunction with the Angelina Health District is making plans, reviewing protocols and procedures in preparation for the upcoming flu season.
