Suspicious Circumstances in Simultaneous Mobile Home Fires, SCENIC LOOP, March 28, 2019 - At approximately 3:40 am on March 28, 2019, two mobile home fires were reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Scenic Loop and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene, along with Sergeant Adam Norris and Deputy Nicole McLean with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. One of the vacant mobile homes was located on West Sherwood, the other vacant mobile home was located off Nottingham (less than a mile away). Both vacant mobile homes were owned by Tim Ponkonin, of Scenic Loop. If that's not suspicious enough, less than two weeks ago, another vacant mobile home owned by Ponkonin, located in Cedar Point burned. Fortunately, nobody was injured. A crew from Sam Houston Electric Cooperative was dispatched to deal with any possible power lines that might have been burned in the fire. An investigation into the fires is underway by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Firemen from Scenic Loop and Livingston teamed up to get the fires out.
Another mobile home off Nottingham burned to the ground.
