On December 17, numerous vendors provided health, safety and wellness education related to a variety of topics including car safety, ATV and bicycle safety, respiratory education, cardiovascular disease and stroke, diabetes management, cancer awareness, blood pressure risk factors, staying hydrated and the importance of handwashing.

The big guy in red came all the way from the North Pole to deep East Texas to deliver gifts – including brand new bicycles –provided by hospital employees and local businesses so that no child went home empty handed.

“This Education Fair is a wonderful way to show the spirit of Christmas and was beneficial not only to the community but also to the hospital staff and community partners who volunteered,” said Tina Alexander-Sellers, Director of Community Outreach at CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial. “We are already making plans for a successful Santa’s Health and Safety Education Fair next year.”

Community partners at this year’s event included Americare EMS, Texan EMS, PHI, Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, Livingston Police Department, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
