Carla Mangrum Holds Her Last Aerobics Class (for now), LIVINGSTON, September 10, 2010 - Longtime aerobics instructor and physical fitness guru Carla Mangrum taught her last aerobics class on Thursday September 9, 2010. Carla first began teaching aerobics in 1997 at King's Gym. King's Gym went out of business and Carla began a short stint at Curves. She eventually ended up at The Sweat Shop. I've done aerobics off and on for years (which is why my weight has fluctuated accordingly) and have been led by other instructors, but Carla tops all. Carla is pretty, she has a pretty personality, and was very professional in all her classes as an instructor. Though, I've been in aerobics off and on, Carla never stopped teaching. The class had a sad mood about it knowing that this would be the last session from our beloved instructor and physical fitness leader, but the good news is, Carla isn't going anywhere. Carla hails from Brazoria County but was raised most of her life right here in Livingston. She wrote occasional physical fitness columns for this website (see below for a link to each one), and is very knowledgeable in the field of physical fitness. Carla is also a hair stylist for Styles Unlimited (next door to Baskins). Carla has always kept herself in superb physical condition and us students will sorely miss her aerobics classes. She runs 10 miles a day Monday through Saturday and takes Sundays off. One of Carla's favorite pass times is riding her horse, Koda (a male paint). She loves most any food (except sushi) and eats chocolate everyday. Her least favorite exercise to do is push ups. As I type this column, I still feel sad. Things just wont be the same without Carla's classes. As for who will step in and replace Carla? I'm giving it some thought, but I don't know.
