ORIGINAL STORY BELOW
45 year old Christopher Young, of Livingston, crashed his 2022 Dodge pickup into a creek in Goodrich.
Pickup Crashes Into Creek, GOODRICH, January 9, 2024 - At approximately 5:40 am on January 9, 2024, a gray 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, driven by Christopher Young, 45, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-59. Young went to pass an 18 wheeler, but the 18 wheeler cut him off, this caused Young to jerk his steering wheel and lose control. Young's pickup left the pavement to the right, and proceeded down towards a creek. His pickup jumped the creek and slammed head-on into the embankment on the other side. The back half of Young's vehicle came to rest in the creek (in the 6600 block of 59 just south of Goodrich Liquor). His airbags deployed. Young called in to Polk County Sheriff's Office Dispatch and informed them he was entrapped and had injuries. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Young managed to get out of his vehicle and made his way up to the shoulder of 59. EMS personnel treated Young at the scene and transported him to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Young's pickup was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston. No citations were issued.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Typically, we would have video from a crash, however, it was just too dark.
Young's crashed pickup was barley visible from the road.
Volunteer Firemen from Goodrich work their way down to the pickup to check for any possible passengers (there were none).
